I have a private mental health practice
in Greenlake, Washington and I am a license eligible registered
counselor. I have a BA in Communications from Taylor University
and an Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Mars Hill Graduate
School in Seattle, WA. I also have various coursework completed
in Bible, Ethics and Theology from Alliance Theological Seminary
in New York.
As part of my master's program I interned
at Catholic Community Services, a community mental health agency
in Everett. Washington. I assessed and counseled older teens, and
adults. In addition to my private practice, I am employed as a Clinician
at Compass Health, a community health agency in Everett, Washington.
At Compass I provide community services and therapy to adults who
experience chronic mental illness.
For many years my husband was a pastor,
and my role as a pastor’s wife first interested me in counseling.
Through many conversations with especially women, I found so often
issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship struggles and fear
were present. We asked, “What’s wrong?” Is it
spiritual warfare? Dysfunctional background? Personal Sin? Biochemical
disorder? Undisciplined living? Deficient spirituality? In looking
for answers to these questions in the context of real and tender
relationship, God lead me to pursue a degree in counseling.
I rely primarily on mental health concepts
within clinical settings. Additionally, I firmly believe in the
incarnational presence of Jesus Christ in our relationship. I am
very comfortable with you bringing your Christian faith into the
therapeutic relationship to whatever extent you desire.
