Professional
and Life Training
I am a Licensed-eligible Mental
Health Counselor with a Master’s degree in counseling from
Mars Hill Graduate School. I have a private practice, Erik Mildes, M.A. Counseling,
in the Greenlake community of North Seattle and in downtown Everett overlooking the beautiful Cascade mountains.
I have successfully worked with students,
adults and children of many ages. My experience as a counselor
began with youth ministry working with children and families. I spent a year at Seattle Pacific University as a counselor in the Student
Counseling Center. I went on to work at Seattle Mental Health, where I provided therapy for families dealing with crippling life situations. Out of this work, came my desire to open a private practice in order to provide the best personalized, Christian based counseling possible.
I have found faith and family to be
an integral part of my decision-making, curiosity, and professional
growth. I believe strongly in personal choice and feel that a
person can redefine who s/he is at any point in life. I rely
primarily on mental health concepts within clinical settings. However,
my diverse training allows clients to bring religion into the therapeutic
relationship if desired. My colleagues note that I display
unconditional acceptance, energy, and insight to my clients. I
help people recognize that life is a continuum of stabilization
and transformation with history, connection, hope, and assessment
being critical to understanding personal experience.
In my free time I am an avid mountain
biker, snowboarder, and hiker. I love reading and sculpting and enjoy spending time with my
wife and friends in both leisure and adventure on a grand scale.
